Timoptic Eyedrops (active ingredient: timolol) is a prescription medication indicated for the following:

  1. Open-Angle Glaucoma: Timoptic Eyedrops are used to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma, helping to prevent damage to the optic nerve.
  2. Ocular Hypertension: It is also indicated for the management of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in conditions of ocular hypertension.

Timoptic Eyedrops belong to a class of drugs known as non-selective beta-adrenergic antagonists (beta-blockers), which work by decreasing the production of aqueous humor in the eye, thereby lowering intraocular pressure.

To apply Timoptic Eye drops, wash your hands first. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface. If you are wearing contact lenses, remove them before using eye drops. Wait at least 15 minutes before replacing your contact lenses. To use Timoptic Eyedrops (Timolol) properly, follow these steps:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
  2. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before administering the eye drops.
  3. Tilt your head back and look up towards the ceiling.
  4. Using one hand, gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
  5. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place one drop into the pocket.
  6. Release your lower eyelid and close your eyes for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Gently press a finger against the inner corner of your eye (near the nose) for 1-2 minutes. This helps to prevent the medication from draining out of the eye and into the tear duct.
  8. If you need to apply drops to both eyes, repeat the above steps for the other eye.

Use Timoptic exactly as directed by a healthcare provider. Do not use more than recommended or skip doses. Contact a healthcare provider if you have any questions or concerns about how to use this medication.
