Slynd is a prescription birth control pill that contains the hormone Drospirenone, a type of progestin. Drospirenone works by preventing ovulation and thickening cervical mucus to block sperm from reaching an egg. Slynd is different from other progestin-only pills as it has a higher dose of Drospirenone, making it more effective at preventing pregnancy.
In addition to preventing pregnancy, Slynd may help regulate menstrual cycles, decrease the amount of blood loss and the intensity of menstrual cramps, and reduce the risk of certain conditions such as ovarian cysts. However, Slynd pills do not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
Slynd comes in the form of a tablet to take orally once a day. The tablet must be swallowed whole without crushing and chewing. Begin taking this medication on the first day of your menstrual period. Continue taking one tablet every day. Do not skip any doses. Pregnancy is more likely if you miss pills, start a new pack late, or take your pill at a different time of the day than usual. The tablets must be taken every day at about the same time so that the interval between two tablets is always 24 hours.
Slynd (Drospirenone) is typically prescribed as a pre-packaged 28-day course of medication, containing 24 active tablets (white) and 4 inactive tablets (green). To take Slynd, take one tablet each day, at the same time every day. Specifically, for each pack of Slynd (Drospirenone), you will take one white tablet daily for the first 24 days, followed by one green (placebo) tablet each day for the last 4 days.

If you miss a dose of Slynd, take it as soon as you remember and continue taking the pills at the same time each day. If you miss two or more pills, use a backup method of contraception until you have taken active pills for seven consecutive days.
If you start taking Slynd within the first 5 days of your period, you will be protected from pregnancy right away. If you start taking Slynd at any other time in your cycle, use another method of birth control (like condoms) if you have penis-in-vagina sex during the first 7 days.
If you start taking the combination pill on the first day of your period, you will be protected against pregnancy right away. However, if you do not begin your pill pack until after your period has started, you’ll need to wait seven days before having unprotected sex.
