Roszet is a prescription medication indicated in adults as an adjunct to diet to help lower “bad” cholesterol, such as LDL. It is intended for use in patients with primary non-familial hyperlipidemia. Roszet is a combination medication that contains two active ingredients, rosuvastatin and ezetimibe.
Rosuvastatin is an HMG CoA-reductase inhibitor (statin) that works by reducing the production of cholesterol in the liver, while ezetimibe is a dietary cholesterol absorption inhibitor that works by reducing the amount of cholesterol absorbed by the small intestine.
Roszet comes in the form of tablet to take by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. Swallow the tablets whole. Do not crush, chew, or dissolve tablets. If you are taking a bile acid sequestrant (such as cholestyramine or colestipol), take this product at least 2 hours before or at least 4 hours after taking the bile acid sequestrant.
To ensure maximum absorption, take bile acid sequestrants, such as cholestyramine and colestipol, at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after taking Roszet. Avoid taking antacids containing aluminum and magnesium at the same time as Roszet, as they can reduce its absorption.
Take Roszet regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. Keep taking Roszet even if you feel well. Most people with high cholesterol do not feel sick. Continue to follow your doctor’s advice about diet and exercise. It may take up to 4 weeks before you get the full benefit of this product.
