Prozac DR is a delayed-release form of the medication fluoxetine. It is typically used to treat depression and other mental health conditions, such as panic disorder. The delayed-release form of fluoxetine is designed to slowly release the medication over time, which can help to reduce side effects and improve treatment outcomes.

Fluoxetine works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances in the brain called neurotransmitters, such as serotonin. It may decrease anxiety, improve mood, sleep, appetite, and energy levels, and may help restore interest in daily living.

Fluoxetine comes as Delayed Release Capsule to take by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually once a week with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole. Do not crush or chew the contents of the capsule. Start taking it 7 days after your last dose of the form of fluoxetine that is taken daily.

The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Use it regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it on the same day of the week. Mark a calendar to help you remember when you should take your next dose.

Keep taking it even if you feel well. Do not stop taking the capsules without first consulting your doctor. Some conditions may become worse when the drug is abruptly stopped. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased.

If you miss a dose of Prozac DR, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not double up on doses to make up for a missed one.
