Nystop Topical Powder (active ingredient: nystatin) is a prescription medication indicated for the following:

  1. Cutaneous Candidiasis: Nystop is used to treat cutaneous candidiasis, a fungal infection of the skin caused by Candida species. It is effective in treating candidiasis in areas such as the feet, groin, and other skin folds.
  2. Diaper Dermatitis: Nystop is indicated for the treatment of diaper dermatitis, a form of irritant diaper rash that can be complicated by Candida infection.

Nystop belongs to a class of drugs known as antifungal agents, which work by binding to sterols in the fungal cell membrane, causing cell contents to leak and resulting in fungal cell death.

Nystop Topical Powder should be used as directed by your doctor or healthcare provider. Generally, the powder is applied to the affected area 2 to 3 times per day.

Nystop Topical Powder is intended for use on the skin only. To use it, first clean and dry the affected area. Then, apply a light coating of the powder to the affected skin and some of the surrounding skin, usually twice a day or as directed by your doctor. The dosage and length of treatment will depend on the type of infection you are treating, so follow your doctor’s instructions carefully and do not apply more often than prescribed.

After applying the powder, be sure to wash your hands unless you are using medication to treat your hands. Do not wrap, cover, or bandage the area unless directed to do so by your doctor, and do not use tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants if using the medication in the diaper area of an infant.

Avoid applying the medication in the eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina, and use Nystop Topical Powder regularly to get the most benefit from it. Remember to use it at the same times each day.

Continue using the powder until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if your symptoms disappear after starting treatment with nystatin. Stopping the medication too early may allow the fungus to continue to grow, which may result in a return of the infection. If your condition lasts after 2 weeks of treatment or gets worse at any time, notify your doctor.
