Debrox otic is an over-the-counter medication used to soften and remove excess earwax from the ears. The active ingredient in Debrox otic drops is carbamide peroxide.

Carbamide peroxide works by releasing oxygen, which creates a microfoam cleansing action that safely removes excessive earwax. When the drops are placed in the ear, the oxygen is released, and the cleansing action begins to break up and gently remove earwax. This can help to reduce the build-up of earwax that can cause blockages and reduce hearing.

Debrox Otic Drops should only be used in the ear. The drops should be applied into the ear, typically two times a day or as instructed by your doctor. Avoid using Debrox Otic Drops for more than four consecutive days, unless directed to do so by your doctor.

To apply ear drops, thoroughly wash your hands. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your ear or any other surface. Lie on your side or tilt your head so that your affected ear is facing upwards. Directly place 5 to 10 drops into the ear canal. Adults should hold their earlobe up and back, while children should hold their earlobe down and back. Keep your head tilted for a few minutes or insert a soft cotton plug into your ear.

After treatment, any remaining wax may be gently removed by rinsing your ear with warm water or using an ear syringe with a soft rubber bulb. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist about safely using an ear syringe.

Do not rinse the dropper and replace the dropper cap after use. Avoid getting Debrox Otic Drops in your eyes, and if this occurs, rinse your eyes thoroughly with water. If your condition persists or worsens after using Debrox Otic Drops for four consecutive days, or if you suspect that you may have a serious medical issue, seek immediate medical attention.
