Azopt Eyedrops (active ingredient: brinzolamide) is a prescription medication indicated for the following:

  • Intraocular Pressure Reduction: Azopt Eyedrops are used for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension, helping to prevent damage to the optic nerve.

Azopt Eyedrops belong to a class of drugs known as carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, which work by decreasing the production of aqueous humor in the eye, thereby lowering intraocular pressure.

To apply Azopt eye drops, wash your hands first and avoid touching the dropper tip or allowing it to touch your eye or any other surface to avoid contamination. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the eye drops and wait at least 15 minutes after each dose before putting your lenses back in. To instill the eye drops, tilt your head back, look upward, and pull down the lower eyelid to create a pouch.

  1. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place one drop into the pouch.
  2. Look downward and gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes, and place one finger at the corner of your eye (near the nose) and apply gentle pressure to prevent the medication from draining out.
  3. Be careful not to blink or rub your eye.
  4. Repeat these steps with your other eye if directed by your healthcare provider.

The recommended dose for Azopt eye drops is one drop in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) twice daily.
