Acular (active ingredient: ketorolac tromethamine) is a prescription medication indicated for the following:
Acular belongs to a class of drugs known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which work by reducing inflammation and pain by inhibiting the production of certain substances in the body that cause inflammation.
To apply Acular ophthalmic solution, first wash your hands to avoid contamination. Do not touch the dropper tip or any other surface with it when administering, and do not use while wearing contact lenses. To apply, tilt your head back while looking upward, and pull down your lower eyelid to create a pouch. Put one drop directly into the pouch, then look downward and gently close your eyes for 1-2 minutes. Place one finger on the corner of your eye near your nose and apply gentle pressure to prevent any medication from draining out. Do not blink or rub your eye. Repeat these steps if directed for the other eye.
Do not rinse the dropper and replace the cap after each use. If using another kind of eye medication, wait at least 5 minutes before applying Acular to allow it to enter your eye first. Do not exceed the prescribed dosing regimen or use for more than two weeks unless directed by your doctor, as prolonged use may increase the risk of severe eye side effects.
Acular (Ketorolac) is available in the following forms and strength:
No, you should not use Acular while wearing contact lenses.
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
If using other eye medications in addition to Acular, wait at least 5 minutes before applying the other medication(s) to allow Acular to enter your eye first.
Acular is usually prescribed for short-term use of two weeks or less.
Store Acular at room temperature between 15-25°C (59-77°F) and away from light and moisture.
No, you should not share Acular eye solution with others, even if they have the same eye condition as you. This can increase the risk of contamination and side effects.
