Veregen is a topical medication used to treat external genital and perianal warts caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). It contains Sinecatechins, which are derived from green tea leaves and have antiviral and immunomodulatory properties. Veregen works by stimulating the immune system to attack the wart cells and reducing the number of HPV viral particles in the affected area.
While Veregen may help the infection clear faster, it does not cure warts. New warts may develop during or after treatment, and it does not prevent the spread of warts through sexual contact. Furthermore, using Veregen may weaken condoms and diaphragms. It is recommended to have a conversation with your doctor about safe sex practices.
Veregen ointment is used to treat genital and anal warts in adults. Apply the ointment to all warts as prescribed, usually 3 times a day or as directed by your doctor. Here are the general instructions on how to use Veregen Ointment:
It may take several weeks or months for the warts to clear up with Veregen treatment. Consult with your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or get worse. Veregen should be used only for external warts and not for internal warts or warts in the urethra, rectum, or vagina.
Veregen (Sinecatechins) is available in the following forms and strength:
You should use Veregen (sinecatechins) until your warts are clear or otherwise instructed by your provider, but not longer than 4 months (16 weeks) months).
Treatment with Veregen Ointment should be continued until complete clearance of all warts, however no longer than 16 weeks. If your warts do not go away, or if they come back after treatment call your doctor.
The safety and effectiveness of Veregen in children under the age of 18 has not been established, so it is not recommended for use in this population.
Veregen treatment can take up to 16 weeks, and improvements may be seen as early as 4 weeks. Continue using Veregen as directed, even if you do not see immediate improvement.
The safety of Veregen during pregnancy has not been established, so it should only be used if the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks.
