Use Ultravate Ointment (halobetasol propionate) exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
Here are the general instructions for using Ultravate Ointment:
- Wash and dry your hands
- Clean the affected area with mild soap and water and pat dry
- Apply a thin layer of Ultravate Ointment to the affected area and gently rub it into the skin.
- Do not cover the treated area with bandages or other dressings unless instructed to do so by your doctor.
- Wash your hands after applying the medication.
- Use Ultravate Ointment as directed by your doctor. Do not use more or less of it, or more often, than prescribed.
Avoid using Ultravate Ointment on broken or infected skin, as this can increase the risk of systemic side effects. Also, long-term use of Ultravate Ointment may cause skin atrophy (thinning). Do not cover, bandage, or wrap the area unless directed to do so by your doctor. If you have any questions or concerns about how to use Ultravate Ointment, talk to your doctor.
Use Ultravate exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
