Tri-Luma Cream should only be used as directed by a healthcare professional. Avoid getting the medication in your eyes, nose, or mouth. Apply Tri-Luma Cream once a day at night, at least 30 minutes before going to bed for up to 8 weeks.
To use the medication properly, follow these steps:
- Use a mild cleanser to wash your face and avoid using a washcloth. Rinse and pat your skin dry.
- Apply a pea-sized or half-inch amount of Tri-Luma Cream onto the discolored spot(s), as well as a ½ inch area of normal surrounding skin.
- After some time, you may find that you need to apply slightly less of the medication to achieve the desired results.
- Gently and evenly rub the medication into your skin until it becomes nearly invisible. Avoid applying the medication near your nose, mouth, eyes, or open wounds.
Never use more Tri-Luma Cream or apply it more often than recommended by your doctor, as this can irritate your skin and will not result in faster or better results. Do not cover the treated area with anything after applying Tri-Luma Cream.
During use of Tri-Luma Cream, skin irritation such as redness, burning, peeling, itching, or dryness may occur. If irritation persists for too long, stop using the medication immediately and contact your doctor. In some cases, Tri-Luma Cream may cause a blue-black discoloration of the skin. If this happens, discontinue use of the product, and consult with your doctor immediately.
