Systane eye drops are an over counter medication used to restore the delicate lipid layer in your eyes by replenishing essential moisture. It contains Polyethylene glycol and Propylene glycol as its active ingredients and is used as a lubricating agent to temporarily relieve dry eye symptoms such as burning, irritation, stinging, grittiness, foreign body sensation, and other environmental factors.

Uses and Dosage

Take Systane as prescribed to you by your health care provider, or as specified on the label. Wash your hands before applying the lubricant to your eyes. Systane comes as Eye Lubricant drop and here is below the guideline on how to use it.

Avoid touching the dropper or top of the ointment tube to prevent contamination.
Tilt your head back, look up, and pull down the lower eyelid to create a pouch.
Only use as many drops as you have been instructed to by your doctor. However, mostly it is recommended to apply 1 or 2 drops of the lubricant directly into the eye.
Close your eye for 1 or 2 minutes and place gentle pressure near the corner of the eye near the nose.
Roll your eye in all directions to spread the medication.
Use other eye medications at least 5 minutes after applying Systane Eye Lubricant.
Blot away any extra ointment from around the eye with a clean tissue.
