Lidex ointment is a topical corticosteroid medication that is used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, allergies, and rash. It contains the active ingredient fluocinonide, which belongs to the family of medications called corticosteroids. Fluocinonide works by reducing inflammation and itching on the skin.

When applied topically, it is absorbed into the skin cells and works by preventing the release of certain chemicals that cause inflammation and itching. This can help to reduce the symptoms of a variety of skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, and allergies.

Lidex is available in ointment and is typically applied to the affected area of skin 2 to 4 times daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional. Lidex is a prescription medication and should only be used under the guidance of a healthcare provider.

To use Lidex ointment, follow these steps:

  1. Clean and dry the affected area before applying the ointment.
  2. Apply a thin layer of the ointment to the affected area and gently rub it in.
  3. Wash your hands after applying the ointment unless you are treating your hands.
  4. Use Lidex ointment as directed by your healthcare provider. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed.

Read the Patient Information Leaflet that comes with the medication before using Lidex ointment and follow your healthcare provider’s instructions for safe and effective use.
