Atelvia DR (active ingredient: risedronate) is a prescription medication indicated for the following:

  1. Osteoporosis: Atelvia DR is used for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and in men, helping to increase bone mass and reduce the risk of fractures.
  2. Paget’s Disease of Bone: It is also indicated for the treatment of Paget’s disease of bone, a condition characterized by abnormal and excessive bone remodeling.

Atelvia DR belongs to a class of drugs known as bisphosphonates, which work by inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, thereby increasing bone density and reducing the risk of fractures.

Risedronate is available in delayed-release tablets that should be orally taken once a week in the morning after breakfast. To use Atelvia DR, which contains risedronate sodium in a delayed-release form, take one 35 mg tablet orally once a week, after a meal/following breakfast, swallowed whole without being chewed or crushed.

Remain in an upright position for at least 30 minutes after taking the medication to prevent stomach and esophagus problems. Follow the instructions on the prescription label carefully and ask your doctor or pharmacist for clarification.

Carefully follow the instructions on your prescription label and seek clarification from your doctor or pharmacist on any unclear parts. Take risedronate as directed without exceeding the prescribed dose or taking it for more extended periods than recommended by your healthcare provider.
