Akynzeo is a prescription medicine used in combination with dexamethasone to help prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy in adults with cancer. It is a combination of two medications: netupitant and palonosetron. Netupitant works by blocking the action of substance P, which is involved in nausea and vomiting. Palonosetron blocks the action of serotonin, which is another source of nausea and vomiting.

Akynzeo is a fixed-dose combination of two drugs: netupitant, a neurokinin 1 receptor antagonist, and palonosetron, a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. The combination of these two drugs helps to prevent nausea and vomiting both in the acute phase, which occurs within the first 24 hours after chemotherapy, and in the delayed phase, which occurs over the next few days after chemotherapy.

Akynzeo (Netupitant/Palonosetron) Capsules should be taken as directed by your healthcare provider. Always follow the specific instructions given by your healthcare provider regarding Akynzeo and consult them if you have any concerns or questions about how to use it. The Capsules may be taken with or without food, but the capsule should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed.

The usual recommended dose is one capsule (300 mg netupitant/0.5 mg palonosetron) taken orally 1 hour before chemotherapy treatment. Do not exceed the recommended dose of Akynzeo, as it may cause side effects. Additionally, inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other medications or supplements you are taking, as they may interact with Akynzeo and affect its effectiveness.
